For Attorneys

Financial analysis built for the case file, not the brochure.

We serve Utah family law counsel and mediators as financial experts: tracing, valuation, income determination, and testimony. Our reports are written to be exhibits. Our conclusions are written to survive cross-examination.

Engagement Models

Retained, neutral, or behind the scenes.

How we're engaged shapes what we produce. All three models are available.

Retained expert

Engaged by one party through counsel. Full forensic analysis, written report, and deposition and trial testimony. Work product structured for disclosure under the applicable rules.

Joint neutral

Engaged by both parties or appointed by stipulation, typically in mediation or collaborative matters. One analysis both sides can rely on, which usually means one fight that doesn't happen.

Consulting expert

Non-testifying support for counsel: reviewing the opposing expert's report, building cross-examination questions, and pressure-testing settlement positions before they're offered.

Work Product

What we produce.

Separate property tracing

Report + schedules

Tracing of premarital assets, inheritances, and gifts through commingled accounts. Transaction-level schedules with source documentation, commingling analysis, and a clear statement of what survives as separate property and why.

Business & practice valuation

CVA-credentialed

Valuation of closely held businesses and professional practices under NACVA standards, including normalization of officer compensation and personal goodwill considerations relevant in Utah divorce matters.

Income determination

Self-employed parties

True income analysis for business owners and self-employed parties: add-backs, perquisites, retained earnings, and the gap between tax-return income and actual cash flow available for support.

Lifestyle & support analysis

Marital standard of living

Documented marital standard of living and needs analysis under Utah's alimony framework, built from actual spending records rather than declaration estimates.

Retirement division & QDRO analysis

Defined benefit + defined contribution

Marital share calculations, survivor benefit analysis, and review of proposed QDRO terms before they become irreversible.

Tax consequence modeling

Enrolled Agents

After-tax analysis of proposed settlements: basis, filing status, dependency, and the real value of nominally equal divisions. Prepared by federally licensed tax practitioners, not estimated by rule of thumb.

Opposing expert review

Rebuttal + cross support

Methodical review of the other side's financial expert: assumptions, methodology, math, and the questions their report can't answer.

Process

How an engagement starts.

01

Conflict check & scope call

A short call on the matter, the parties, and the question you need answered. We confirm no conflicts and define scope before anything is signed.

02

Engagement letter & document list

Fixed scope, clear fee structure, and a specific document request list your client or opposing counsel can actually fulfill.

03

Analysis, report, testimony

Work product on the agreed timeline, draft findings discussed with counsel, final report formatted as an exhibit, and testimony if the matter goes that far.
