Davis Schuler & Associates, LLC is a Utah-based tax and accounting firm serving clients across the Wasatch Front and the Intermountain West. We provide tax preparation, tax planning, audit representation, and estate planning for individuals and small businesses. Our practice is built on decades of experience with the tax code and a straightforward approach: clear answers, fair pricing, and no surprises.
Because tax and divorce intersect at nearly every financial decision, our firm also offers specialized divorce financial analysis through the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) designation. This work sits alongside our core tax and accounting services, giving clients a single firm that understands both sides of the equation.
What Is a CDFA®?
A Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) is a professional who specializes in the financial complexities of divorce. The CDFA® designation is earned through the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts (IDFA) and requires specialized training in property division, tax implications of settlement structures, support calculations, and the long-term financial impact of divorce agreements. CDFA® professionals do not practice law or provide legal advice. Their role is to analyze the numbers: tracing assets, modeling settlement scenarios, projecting tax consequences, and producing work product that attorneys and clients can rely on during negotiation or litigation.
Who We Work With
Through our CDFA® services, we support two primary audiences across Utah:
- Divorcing individuals who need to understand what they own, what is at stake, and what different settlement paths will cost over time.
- Family law attorneys who rely on us for expert reports, testimony, and financial models that meet the standards of Utah Rule of Civil Procedure 26.
Who Runs This Firm

Joseph A. Davis
EA · MAFF · CDFA® · BFA™
Joe has spent more than 20 years in financial services. He combines divorce financial planning with forensic analysis and a federally licensed tax practice, and serves as a financial expert in Utah district court matters. His work centers on one thing: making sure the financial facts of a divorce are actually known before they're negotiated.

Aaron Schuler, Jr.
CVA · CDFA® · EA
Aaron brings business valuation to the practice as a Certified Valuation Analyst credentialed through NACVA, alongside divorce financial analysis and an Enrolled Agent license. He works tracing and valuation engagements with clients and counsel from Ogden to Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Both partners hold the Enrolled Agent (EA) credential, a federally licensed tax practitioner designation with unlimited representation rights before the IRS. Combined with the CDFA® specialization and credentials in business valuation, our team brings an uncommon depth of perspective to every engagement: deep tax knowledge paired with forensic financial training, applied to the specific challenges divorce creates.
We maintain offices in West Haven and Midway, Utah, and work with clients throughout the Wasatch Front and beyond. The firm is built on a simple premise: the best financial decisions, in divorce or otherwise, start with good data clearly explained.
Our Approach
Every engagement starts with a scope call. We review the financial picture, identify what work is needed, and quote a fixed fee before anything begins. No upsell, no surprise invoicing, and no opinion offered without the numbers to back it up. That discipline serves our tax clients, our CDFA® clients, and the attorneys who depend on our work.
